Puebla deputy introduces ‘Acción Migrante’ to support returning migrants

Deputy Delfina Pozos Vergara has introduced a legislative package titled ‘Acción Migrante’ in the Congress of Puebla. The package consists of five new proposals designed to strengthen the protection, care, and reintegration of migrants from Puebla who return to the state.

Key components of the initiative include requiring all 217 municipalities in Puebla to provide specific spaces for migrant assistance and orientation. Additionally, the proposal calls for each municipality to designate and train a municipal liaison to facilitate institutional support for the migrant community.

The package also seeks to recognize deported migrants as a vulnerable population, granting them access to discounts, benefits, and support mechanisms to aid their reintegration. One proposal includes the creation of a non-contributory pension for deported migrants returning to Puebla under vulnerable conditions.
