Puebla expands air connectivity with new international and domestic routes

The state government of Puebla, led by Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier, is expanding regional air connectivity through a new strategy aimed at boosting tourism, business, and economic mobility. As part of this initiative, the airline Volaris has incorporated 12 of its 35 new national connections into Puebla for 2026.

Starting December 1, new routes will include Chicago O’Hare, Acapulco, and Puerto Escondido. This expansion brings Puebla’s international destinations in the United States to four: Los Angeles, New York, Houston, and Chicago. Domestic connections also include major cities such as Tijuana, Cancun, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Merida.

The Secretary of Tourism Development, Carla López-Malo Villalón, noted that the update seeks to strengthen high-potential connections. This growth is reflected in the performance of the Puebla International Airport, which saw 339,515 arriving passengers from January to July 2026, a 19.66 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.
