Puebla expands migrant support services in the United States

The government of Puebla, led by Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier, is expanding institutional support and services for migrants living in the United States. This strategy aims to strengthen ties between migrant communities and their families remaining in Puebla, while recognizing the economic importance of remittances to the state's development.

Currently, the state maintains a presence through 'Casas Puebla' in New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Plans are underway to establish a new representation in Houston. David Espinoza, director of the Instituto Poblano de Atención al Migrante (IPAM), confirmed that efforts are focused on consolidating services in Chicago and identifying leadership to finalize the Houston opening.

The initiative also seeks to leverage connectivity through the Hermanos Serdán International Airport in Huejotzingo to facilitate stronger links between Puebla and major U.S. cities with large migrant populations.
