Puebla government and BUAP collaborate on urban art project
The municipal government of Puebla, led by Mayor Pepe Chedraui, has collaborated with the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) to recover public spaces through urban art. As part of the ‘Entornos de movilidad segura’ project, muralist Teddy Kelly created a large-scale work titled ‘Puebla: Lienzo, Cultura y Creativo’ at the intersection of 14 Sur and Boulevard Capitán Carlos Camacho Espíritu.
The initiative aims to improve urban imagery and safety at high-incident traffic intersections. The project involved students from the BUAP Faculty of Plastic and Audiovisual Arts (ARPA) and was presented within the ‘Efecto Reparo’ forum and the ‘Conéctate Emprendedor’ series. Officials noted that the intervention represents a multi-institutional effort to strengthen social fabric and democratize art through tactical urbanism.
