Regional recovery efforts respond to earthquakes and infrastructure needs

Various regional governments and organizations are implementing recovery and social support measures following recent natural disasters and infrastructure needs.

In Colombia, the government has issued Decrees 1422 and 1423 to accelerate urban reconstruction and housing solutions for those affected by the August 10 earthquake. These measures include flexible subsidies and temporary rental assistance. The Ministry of Environment is also implementing temporary environmental measures to facilitate debris removal and reconstruction without eliminating essential ecological controls. Meanwhile, the Defensoría del Pueblo has suggested that emergency declarations should be strictly limited to municipalities with verified damage to ensure resources are used effectively.

In Venezuela, the government has distributed approximately 2.8 billion bolívares (roughly $2,821 per family) to 1,647 families in La Guaira via the Plataforma Patria to assist with home repairs following June earthquakes.

In Mexico, local initiatives continue to address community needs, including prosthetic support for patients in El Mante, health services in San Luis Potosí, and student mobility programs in Ramos Arizpe. Additionally, the state of Puebla is preparing a public consultation regarding the future of its inactive cable car system, considering options such as rehabilitation, relocation, or conversion into a tourist viewpoint.
