Puebla government implements youth sports and education strategy

The government of Puebla is implementing a comprehensive strategy to empower youth and address the structural causes of violence through sports, education, and economic opportunities. During the “Juventudes que Construyen Paz” conference, Secretary of Sport and Youth Gaby Sánchez highlighted initiatives coordinated with the administration of Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier and President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

Key actions include the payment of over 27 million pesos to the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE), enabling Puebla to host national and international sporting events. The state is also providing direct support, economic incentives for high-performance athletes, scholarships, and talent detection programs across all 217 municipalities.

Additionally, the state has established the Universidad del Deporte (UDEP), a specialized institution offering degrees in Physical Culture with specializations in football, basketball, boxing, baseball, sports communication, sports management, sports psychology, and recreation physics to provide professional career paths for young people.
