Puebla Governor Alejandro Armenta launches state's largest road‑paving program

Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier announced that Puebla will implement the most extensive road‑paving programme in the state's history. The plan targets 13,000 streets in the capital and 15,000 in the interior for 2026, adds around 100 major avenues and strategic highways, and will rehabilitate 100 road sections totaling about 412 km. Work will be carried out with 13 mobile paving modules and an additional unit supplied by PEMEX, using 36,000 tonnes of asphalt – 12,000 tonnes donated by the state oil firm.

The initiative also includes a permanent culvert (cuneteo) program to protect roads during the rainy season and a rapid‑response system that deployed specialised crews and machinery to fix a sinkhole on the Eloxochitlán‑Tlacotepec highway after heavy rains. The state aims to improve mobility, safety and welfare for nearly three million residents, coordinated with the federal government and supported by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
