Puebla and Tamaulipas governments boost agricultural support with machinery, seed and food aid
Puebla Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier announced a historic investment of 1.7 billion pesos for 2026 to transform the state’s agriculture. The program has already added 800 pieces of machinery in 2025, bringing the total to 1,800 across the 31 micro‑regions, with a target of 2,500 units for the following year. Covered farmland rose from 50,000 ha to 200,000 ha this year and is projected to reach 400,000 ha by 2027. The initiative also includes processing centres, the Puebla Cinco de Mayo coffee brand exported to the United States, and a new tomato‑processing hub.
In the state capital, the Sistema Estatal para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia (SEDIF) distributed 12,872 food baskets to 3,218 families through two extra‑ordinary delivery days, ensuring continued nutritional support for vulnerable households.
Governor Armenta also met with leaders of Puebla’s auxiliary boards to coordinate public‑works projects, security measures and basic services.
In Tamaulipas, the Secretariat of Rural Development distributed certified sorghum, corn and peanut seed to 442 producers, enabling planting on more than 3,600 ha. Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya highlighted the program’s aim to raise productivity and improve the quality of life for farming families.
