Puebla Governor Armenta emphasizes economic diversity beyond automotive sector

Puebla Governor Alejandro Armenta stated that while Volkswagen and Audi are significant to the state's economy, they do not represent it in its entirety. He noted that 80 percent of jobs in the entity are generated by productive units outside of these two automotive manufacturers.

Armenta emphasized that the state's economic strength lies in a wide range of sectors, including commercial, hospitality, restaurant, industrial, and service activities. He highlighted the growth of productive activities in Huejotzingo, where projects totaling nearly 8 billion pesos are expected to generate thousands of jobs, as well as planned developments in San José Chiapa and the commercial impact of the Huixcolotla Central de Abasto.

While acknowledging the global economic complexities facing the automotive industry—including the influence of United States economic policy—the governor affirmed that his administration continues to support Volkswagen, Audi, their workers, and their unions. He argued that government support must extend to all productive sectors, from large industries to small businesses, to ensure regional development.
