Puebla Governor recognizes security and emergency personnel
During the 13th edition of the ‘Puebla Agradece’ ceremony, Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier honored members of the armed forces, national guard, police, firefighters, and civil protection personnel for their service to families in Puebla.
The Governor reported a decrease in 15 different crime categories between January and September 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Notable reductions include a 47 percent drop in femicides, a 26 percent decrease in intentional homicides, a 33 percent reduction in kidnappings, and a 30 percent decline in extortion. Additionally, the area affected by forest fires decreased from 30,000 to 6,000 hectares.
Armenta Mier also announced a legislative initiative to reform the ISSSTEP law. This reform aims to restore the institute's ability to construct housing for municipal and state police, firefighters, forest guards, and civil protection staff. The initiative involves a 1,000 million peso financial adjustment to support housing projects, including 500 homes in Lomas de San Miguel.
