Puebla reduces child poverty by 10.2 percent

The state of Puebla has achieved a 10.2 percent reduction in child poverty between 2018 and 2024, according to Lorena Villavicencio Ayala, the executive secretary of the National System for the Integral Protection of Children and Adolescents (SIPINNA).

During a regional meeting in Puebla, authorities discussed strengthening public policies for the protection of minors. The central region of Mexico holds approximately 11.8 million children and adolescents, representing 31 percent of the national total. Puebla and the State of Mexico account for the majority of this demographic, with 2.1 million and 5 million minors respectively.

National priorities identified during the summit include the eradication of child poverty, violence prevention, mental health support, and the elimination of child marriage and pregnancy. The initiatives align with Mexico's National Development Plan and the directives of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
