Puebla implements new sustainable development laws

Deputy Ana Laura Gómez Ramírez has highlighted the Circular Economy Law and the Kilometer Zero Law as essential tools for sustainable development in Puebla. These regulations were developed through citizen participation, including consultations with small producers and advisory councils, to ensure they reflect the local economic reality.

The Circular Economy Law focuses on responsible waste management, offering industries the opportunity to reduce waste and repurpose refuse into raw materials. The Kilometer Zero Law aims to strengthen the internal market by encouraging the consumption of local goods, integrating producers into supply chains, and promoting the formalization of businesses within the state.

Additionally, Gómez Ramírez has proposed a reform to the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) to support the mezcal industry. The initiative seeks to benefit small producers by introducing the concept of ‘artisanal mezcal’ for those producing less than 10,000 liters annually, allowing for a different tax treatment.
