The Mexican federal government has reported that its welfare programs for the agricultural sector are benefiting 13 million producers across 2,470 municipalities. This initiative involves a total investment of 107 billion pesos.
During a briefing in Zacatecas, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted that these programs are central to the Plan México, which aims to achieve food sovereignty. Key production milestones include the production of 1.36 million tons of beans, surpassing the initial target, as well as significant growth in corn and milk production. The government is also implementing measures such as improving seed quality and prohibiting transgenic corn to strengthen domestic production.
