Dominican Republic JCE extends hours at ten identification centers

The Junta Central Electoral (JCE) has announced extended service hours for ten identification centers across the Dominican Republic, effective Monday, November 2, 2026. The measure aims to facilitate the renewal of the new national identity and electoral card, particularly for citizens with work or personal commitments during traditional hours.

Under the new schedule, selected centers will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. The participating locations include La Feria, Herrera, Las Américas, Barahona, San Francisco de Macorís, La Romana (Santa Rosa), La Vega, San Cristóbal, San Pedro de Macorís, and Santiago (Cuesta Colorada).

The JCE noted that approximately three million citizens have yet to renew their documents before the current versions expire in April 2027.
