Nuevo León: 210 firearms seized from Texas in Sabinas Hidalgo

Mexican federal authorities intercepted a large shipment of 210 firearms in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo León, while it was being transported along the Nuevo Laredo–Monterrey highway. The arsenal, which reportedly originated from Texas, United States, consisted of 195 long guns and 15 short guns, along with 93 magazines. The weapons were discovered hidden within modified compartments in the platforms of two semi-trailers.

Three individuals were arrested during the operation, which involved coordinated efforts by the Federal Intelligence Agency, the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), the National Guard, and the Secretariat of Security and Protection of the Citizen (SSPC).

Omar García Harfuch, head of the SSPC, stated that this seizure brings the total number of firearms confiscated during the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum to over 30,000. The operation is part of ongoing federal efforts to dismantle illegal arms trafficking routes from the United States into Mexico to combat organized crime.
