Puebla launches 2026 Mole de Caderas season to boost tourism

Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier has inaugurated the 2026 Mole de Caderas season in Tehuacán, Puebla. This gastronomic tradition, recognized as state intangible cultural heritage since 2010, is expected to generate an economic impact exceeding 100 million pesos.

The event involves the use of approximately 12,000 goats and the participation of over 80 restaurants and traditional cooks. This initiative aims to strengthen the local economy, benefiting rural families and the tourism sector by leveraging Tehuacán’s strategic location and connectivity with Oaxaca and Veracruz.

According to Ana Laura Altamirano, Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, Puebla ranks third nationally in goat meat production, contributing over 4,000 tons valued at more than 400 million pesos. The state government is integrating this culinary event into a broader tourism strategy that includes infrastructure improvements and the promotion of 'Pueblos Mágicos'.
