Puebla legislator calls for heritage protection amid Grupo Carso project

Pável Gaspar Ramírez, president of the Government and Political Coordination Board of the Puebla State Congress, has called for the protection of housing and historical heritage in Puebla's Historic Center. This follows the announcement of the Paseos de San Francisco modernization project, which involves an investment exceeding 4 billion pesos and includes participation from Grupo Carso and businessman Carlos Slim.

Gaspar Ramírez emphasized that while he does not oppose private investment, the project must undergo a comprehensive analysis regarding its social impact. He stressed that housing is a human right and warned against real estate developments causing the displacement of families who have lived in the area for generations. He urged that the project prioritize the dignity of residents and the preservation of local traditions and identity.

In a separate political development in Puebla, Gaspar Ramírez also addressed the leadership of the Morena party. He recognized the work of state leader Olga Lucía Romero García-Crespo, noting that if she decides to run for elective office, she would need to step down from her leadership role according to party statutes. He stated that the national leadership would then be responsible for appointing a temporary replacement.
