Puebla legislators propose motorcycle regulation reforms

Legislators in Puebla are preparing reforms to motorcycle regulations aimed at strengthening public and road safety. Elpidio Díaz Escobar, president of the Transport and Mobility Commission, stated that the reforms seek to protect lives and provide better tools to combat crimes committed using motorcycles.

Díaz Escobar emphasized the need for a gradual and sensitive implementation, expressing openness to hearing concerns from motorcyclists to ensure legal certainty and respect for rights. A working group session is scheduled for September 21 to discuss the legal and operational aspects of the State Mobility and Road Safety Law.

Additionally, Díaz Escobar and Deputy Azucena Rosas Tapia have presented an agreement urging state infrastructure, mobility, and security secretariats to bring all lateral roads of the Mexico-Puebla-Veracruz Highway within the state under state jurisdiction to prevent administrative fragmentation.
