Puebla Mayor forms UNODC alliance to prevent human trafficking

The municipal government of Puebla, led by Mayor Pepe Chedraui, has established a strategic alliance with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to strengthen the prevention of human trafficking. Through the Secretariat of Women, the city will launch an information and awareness campaign designed to help citizens identify warning signs and recruitment methods.

The initiative aims to provide accessible information regarding various trafficking tactics, including false job or study offers, deception through romantic relationships, and digital recruitment mechanisms. By partnering with the UNODC, the local government intends to incorporate international expertise to improve prevention protocols and institutional responses. Mayor Chedraui emphasized a policy of zero tolerance toward violence and a commitment to protecting the rights of women and families in the capital.
