Puebla-Orizaba highway accident disrupts traffic and Audi Mexico production
A major tractor-trailer accident on the Puebla-Orizaba highway near Amozoc caused significant traffic disruption and industrial delays. The accident, involving two heavy vehicles carrying paper rolls, occurred at kilometer 136 of the highway, resulting in vehicle queues stretching up to 10 kilometers.
The blockage forced Audi Mexico to implement a technical production halt for its second shift after employees and materials were stranded in the traffic. To mitigate the impact on the production schedule, the Sindicato Independiente de Trabajadores de Audi México (Sitaudi) requested that first-shift personnel extend their hours, which will be compensated as overtime.
Authorities, including CAPUFE and the National Guard, worked through the early hours of Tuesday to clear the scene. While partial access was eventually restored through a single lane, heavy traffic and slow movement persisted due to ongoing cleaning and removal operations.
