PAN and Mexican parties shape 2027 election strategies

Political maneuvering is intensifying across Mexico as various parties prepare for the 2027 electoral cycle. The Partido Acción Nacional (PAN) is seeing significant activity regarding potential candidates and strategic alliances.

In Sinaloa, several figures are positioning themselves for the governorship, including deputy Roxana Rubio Valdez and PRI deputy Paola Gárate, who registered on the PAN platform to promote unity against organized crime. In Chihuahua, Marco Bonilla is exploring potential alliances with Movimiento Ciudadano and the PRI. Meanwhile, in Michoacán, the PAN has distanced itself from the Movimiento del Sombrero, opting to focus on its own internal projects.

Regional contests are also taking shape. In Puebla, the PAN and Morena are defining profiles for the Puebla municipal presidency, while in San Andrés Cholula, 40 PAN members have registered to compete for the mayoralty, including incumbent Lupita Cuautle. In Baja California, Héctor Osuna Jaime is seeking the PAN nomination for governor despite a long history of electoral losses. Senator Mayuli Martínez has expressed openness to participating in the PAN for 2027 while advocating for the party to incorporate new leadership.
