Puebla promotes healthy eating to combat obesity and diabetes

During the commemoration of World Food Day, Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier called for a focus on healthy eating and physical activity to combat rising rates of obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome in Mexico. A gastronomic fair was held at the Centro Expositor, featuring traditional cooks and local producers from various municipalities in Puebla.

Rocío García Pérez, head of the National DIF System, emphasized that nutrition is a fundamental right rather than a privilege. She highlighted the importance of strengthening local production and community knowledge to ensure healthy food reaches vulnerable groups, including children, pregnant women, and the elderly. This initiative aligns with the national strategy led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to recover healthy habits and promote food security across the country.
