Puebla State Congress former headquarters reopens for public tours

The former seat of the Puebla State Congress in the city's Historic Center has reopened to the public for historical and cultural tours. Following the relocation of the Legislative Power to the Los Fuertes area, the initiative aims to preserve political memory and provide access to the state's documentary heritage.

Under the “Tesoros Históricos del Poder Legislativo Poblano” program, visitors can access guided tours through traditional halls, including the Sala de las y los Legisladores, Sala Migrantes, and the Salón del Pleno. The site features a photographic gallery documenting legislators since 1921 and the Esperanza Ramos Rodríguez classroom, named after Puebla's first female legislator.

The reopening includes exhibitions of over 70 documents regarding the history of women in local legislation. Additionally, the Benito Juárez García Library is available, serving as a repository for Mexico's constitutional memory, including references to the Ley Juárez of 1855 and the Reform Laws of 1859. Access is free and available Monday through Friday, from 10:00 to 16:00, at 5 Poniente number 128.
