Puebla State Government Assists Repatriated Mexican Patient from Illinois

The government of the Mexican state of Puebla, through its advanced medical emergency system (SUMA), provided assistance to a 47‑year‑old man with a malignant spinal tumor and incomplete paraplegia who was repatriated from Illinois, United States. The Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago arranged the patient’s travel documents and a commercial flight to Mexico City. Upon arrival, a SUMA ambulance transferred him to his hometown of Tecamachalco, where he will continue specialized medical care under the state’s health services. Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier highlighted the coordination between state, federal and consular authorities to ensure access to health services for returning residents who lack the resources to cover such emergencies.
