Puebla suspends classes in 173 municipalities due to heavy rain
The Secretariat of Public Education of the State of Puebla (SEP) has announced the suspension of all school activities for Friday, October 2, 2026, across 173 municipalities. This measure affects all educational levels in the Sierra Norte, Nororiental, Negra, Valle Serdán, and Mixteca regions due to forecasts of heavy to very heavy rainfall, electrical activity, and intense winds.
To ensure student safety, the SEP will provide distance learning options using textbooks, homework, and activity booklets. In-person classes are scheduled to resume on Monday, October 5. The decision follows recommendations from the General Coordination of Civil Protection and Disaster Risk Management.
