Puebla taxi drivers protest mobility restrictions and favoritism

Independent taxi drivers in Puebla held a protest in front of the Secretaría de Movilidad y Transporte (SMT) to demand equal access to the Periférico Ecológico. The demonstrators claim that authorities are showing favoritism toward the Consejo Taxista by only allowing members of that specific group to operate on the highway.

The protesters, who have blocked Rosendo Márquez Avenue in both directions, are requesting a formal meeting with the head of the department, Silvia Tanús Osorio. They argue that despite having properly marked vehicles and paying the required state fees, they are being denied the ability to work and earn a living. The blockade has caused significant traffic disruptions in the area, and drivers have stated they will remain at the site until they receive an official response.
