Puebla Governor expands Casa del Abue centers for elderly welfare
Puebla Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier announced the expansion of the ‘Casa del Abue’ program, a gerontological model designed to support elderly citizens. During a celebration for National Senior Citizens Day, Armenta confirmed that a third center will open in September in the Lomas de San Miguel area, specifically near the El Batán highway.
The program, which stands for Assistance, Benefits, Unity, and Hope, provides medical care, physical therapy, recreational workshops, and social spaces. Armenta expressed plans to establish a fourth location in the northern part of the city by 2027 to decentralize services.
Accompanied by Ceci Arellano, president of the SEDIF patronato, the governor emphasized that this initiative aligns with the social policies of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. The administration aims to replicate this model across various municipalities in the state of Puebla to ensure elderly residents can access care near their homes.
