BUAP and Puebla State Tourism Department Sign Alliance to Boost Regional Tourism

The Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) and the Secretaría de Desarrollo Turístico of the State of Puebla signed a strategic collaboration agreement on 7 July 2026. Rector Lilia Cedillo Ramírez and Tourism Secretary Carla López‑Malo Villalón highlighted the goal of strengthening Puebla’s tourism sector—one of the region’s main sources of income—by involving students, teachers and researchers in joint projects.

The pact aims to develop new tourism products, enhance the state's competitiveness, and position Puebla as a national reference in tourism. It also creates academic and research opportunities, with participation from the BUAP’s Faculty of Administration and other specialists. Officials present at the ceremony included subsecretary Carlos Márquez Pérez, subsecretary José Miguel Vélez Moreno, and BUAP’s general lawyer Miriam Olga Ponce Gómez, who underscored the partnership’s potential to translate university knowledge into community benefits.

Through the agreement, BUAP will channel its human talent into tourism initiatives, fostering innovation and providing students with practical experience while supporting the state’s economic development.
