Puebla's Festival de la Memoria postponed after last‑minute cancellation

The Festival de la Memoria, a cultural event scheduled for 6–9 August 2026 in Puebla, Mexico, was cancelled and postponed a day before its planned opening. The Secretaría de Arte y Cultura, led by Fritz Glockner Corte, announced the decision on social media, citing “causas ajenas” without providing further details. The festival was to take place at the Zócalo, the Casa de Cultura Pedro Ángel Palou, and the Centro Cultural San Roque and would have featured artists such as Audrey Funk, Yucatán A Go Go, Gabino Palomares, Francisco Barrios “El Mastuerzo”, Eduardo Sabugal, Paco Ignacio Taibo II, and Francisco Pérez Arce. New dates will be announced later, with officials emphasizing the need to ensure full participation of national and international creators and to maintain the event’s quality.

The cancellation was communicated through the Secretariat’s official channels, and the festival’s Facebook page was subsequently cleared of related posts. Organizers indicated the postponement aims to guarantee the presence of invited speakers and special guests while preserving the intended artistic and conversational program.
