Puebla’s “Por Amor a Puebla” Center Delivers Free Care to New Jersey Migrants

The Casa de Representación “Por Amor a Puebla” in Passaic, New Jersey offers preventive medical services and diagnostic tests at no cost to migrants from the Mexican state of Puebla living in the United States. The program is coordinated by the Puebla state government under Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier and aligns with President Claudia Sheinbaum’s human‑rights agenda. Fundación Únete and the Instituto Poblano de Asistencia al Migrante (IPAM) have provided more than 700 medical appointments, detecting five cases of cancer. Services include pap smears, sample collection, health promotion, and screening for breast, cervical, prostate and colon cancers, as well as tests for glucose, blood pressure and lipid profiles. Abnormal results are referred to first‑level hospitals in New Jersey for free follow‑up care. Local community leaders such as entrepreneur Alfonso López Campos and representative Rosbalt Arista Jiménez have praised the initiative and encouraged others to use the center.
