Pueblo Police Corporal Stephen Biggs dies in wakeboarding accident

Stephen Biggs, a 41-year-old corporal with the Pueblo Police Department, died following a wakeboarding accident at Lake Pueblo State Park in Colorado. Biggs was off-duty when the incident occurred on Sept. 27.

Following a search and recovery effort involving Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the use of an underwater robot, his body was recovered in approximately 50 feet of water early Monday morning.

Biggs joined the department in 2010 and was a member of the SWAT team and a patrol training officer. His career included 10 letters of commendation, three Medal of Valor awards, and the Distinguished Service Award. Pueblo Police Chief Chris Noeller described the loss as ‘deeply personal,’ noting Biggs’ courage and dedication to his fellow officers. The department is honoring him by parking his patrol car at headquarters.
