Puente Alto mother arrested for assaulting two-year-old daughter

A woman was arrested in Puente Alto, Chile, after being recorded by neighbors assaulting her two-year-old daughter. Video footage captured the woman throwing the child into the air and shaking her violently, causing the toddler to hit the ground at least twice.

Authorities reported that the mother appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs and was already subject to an active restraining order. Following the incident, Carabineros detained the woman and transferred her to the 66th Police Station, while the child was taken to a medical center to assess her injuries.

Puente Alto Mayor Matías Toledo condemned the violence, describing the incident as an attack on the most vulnerable members of society. The case has been referred to the family court.
