Puente Genil institutions mark significant anniversaries

The city of Puente Genil is celebrating major milestones for two key local institutions. The Afasur Genil Association, dedicated to supporting individuals with Alzheimer's and their families, marked its 25th anniversary with a commemorative event at the Cien Luces barracks.

The association was recognized for its work in providing specialized resources, cognitive stimulation, and support for caregivers. During the ceremony, former presidents Manuel Poyato and María del Carmen Estepa were honored for their leadership. A significant achievement noted for the organization was securing full funding for its service places from the Junta de Andalucía.

Additionally, the Puente Genil High Resolution Hospital is commemorating 20 years since its opening in October 2006. Originally established following local community advocacy, the hospital has become a regional reference point for specialized care. The facility has earned various distinctions, including optimal accreditation from the Andalusian Health Quality Agency and certifications for surgical safety and environmental management.
