Puente Genil restores irrigation system at Llanos del Cristo park

The Puente Genil City Council has restored the irrigation system at the Llanos del Cristo park to ensure the health of its trees. First Deputy Mayor Javier Villafranca explained that because the park was built on former building sites with a thin layer of topsoil, a specialized irrigation method was required.

This system is designed to force roots to grow deep into the ground to find fertile soil, which promotes long-term stability for trees expected to reach heights of 10 to 20 meters. While the process has resulted in the loss of approximately twenty trees, the majority are developing correctly. Villafranca noted that although the surface may appear dry, water is being filtered to the deep layers where roots need it most.

Additionally, the city is investing in further infrastructure for the Miragenil neighborhood, including a project for a football field with a budget exceeding 1.4 million euros.
