Puerto Aysén taxi drivers warn of fare hikes due to bridge closure
Taxi drivers in Puerto Aysén have warned of potential fare increases and mobilizations due to the upcoming vehicular closure of the Presidente Ibáñez Bridge.
Jorge Lara González, president of the 1B taxi collective line, expressed concern over the lack of concrete solutions and dialogue from provincial authorities. He noted that the necessary route changes will increase travel times and fuel consumption. Lara stated that the transport sector lacks the economic capacity to absorb these additional operational costs alone, which will likely force them to pass the expenses on to passengers.
