Puerto de Lunada road improvements reach 40% completion

The Government of Cantabria has completed between 36% and 40% of the integral improvement works on the CA-643 highway at Puerto de Lunada in less than three months. The project involves a total investment of 3.4 million euros to enhance road safety across a 12-kilometer stretch of mountainous terrain.

Supervised by the Minister of Public Works, Roberto Media, the works include the installation of new drainage systems, road widening to five meters in many sections, the construction of stone retaining walls, and the renewal of the road surface using a triple surface treatment. Additionally, the project will include new horizontal signaling and snow beacons.

Due to the potential for snow to halt work in the upper sections of the pass, officials are working to maintain a high pace of execution. The goal is to complete the improvements within the established timeframe, with final completion targeted for 2027.
