Latin American regions implement water infrastructure projects
Various regional governments and utility companies across Latin America are implementing water infrastructure projects to improve supply and sanitation.
In Mexico, Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena met with Conagua to advance the ‘Plan Bienestar Metropolitano’ for Mérida, Yucatán. This initiative involves an investment of 1,813.5 million pesos specifically for water and sanitation to support the metropolitan area. Additionally, Conagua is working with the Otomí Guerrero community in San Miguel de Allende to secure a new water well following geophysical studies. Other local improvements include infrastructure in the Nora Quintana neighborhood and drainage works in Magdalena Contreras.
In Nicaragua, ENACAL rehabilitated the potable water system in San Miguel de Los Mojicas, Carazo, restoring service to approximately 100 families after electrical and pumping equipment failures.
Other regional updates include the start of water system renovations in Ccantupata, Peru, and the rehabilitation of the Las Marquezas and Placeta canals in Alto del Carmen, Chile.
