Puerto Gala fishers seek to supply southern hake to Aysén schools

Artisanal fishers from Puerto Gala are working to incorporate locally sourced southern hake into the school meal programs of the Aysén Region. Led by the Sindicato de Trabajadores Independientes N°1 de Puerto Gala, the initiative aims to establish a direct supply model connecting the fishing production of the Cisnes commune to educational institutions.

Regional Governor Marcelo Santana expressed pride in the project, noting that it positions a key regional product while supporting local entrepreneurship and young fishers. The initiative seeks to sensitize JUNAEB and relevant companies to finalize the process. Cisnes Mayor Francisco Roncagliolo also highlighted the pilot program as a way to explore new economic alternatives for the coastal community.
