Puerto Madryn hosts taekwondo cup celebrating 41 years of the sport
Puerto Madryn hosted the 20th Anniversary Taekwondo Cup at the Municipal Gymnasium No. 1, drawing more than 200 athletes from across the Patagonia region. The event included participants from various Chubut localities, such as Comodoro Rivadavia, Esquel, and Trevelin, as well as delegations from Cipolletti, Cañadón Seco, Villa Manzano, and Los Antiguos.
The tournament served as a celebration of the 41st anniversary of taekwondo in the city. Grand Master José Ignacio Carbonell, a key figure in the history of the discipline and a former trainer of instructors in Chubut, attended the ceremony to connect the sport's origins with new generations of practitioners.
Mayor Gustavo Sastre attended the central act, emphasizing the importance of supporting regional sports competitions and noting that the municipality views sports as a vital tool for inclusion and opportunity.
