Puerto Madryn Mayor criticizes national government over PAMI healthcare access

The Mayor of Puerto Madryn, Gustavo Sastre, has criticized the national government regarding the poor conditions faced by retirees affiliated with PAMI. Sastre described the difficulties elderly citizens encounter when trying to secure medical appointments through PROSATE as “a barbarity,” noting that the issue intensifies during the winter months.

Sastre reported that some retirees must wait in lines as early as 5:30 a.m. to request prescriptions. In response, the local municipality has opened a neighborhood center to provide support, including access to restrooms, warm beverages, and guidance for seniors, though Sastre emphasized that this is merely a temporary measure and not a definitive solution to the systemic lack of response from national agencies.
