Puerto Morelos draws new investment as Abarrotes Willys opens second store

The municipality of Puerto Morelos inaugurated a second Abarrotes Willys supermarket, marking a private investment of roughly 4‑5 million pesos. The opening ceremony was led by municipal president Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz and the secretary of Economic Development Elena Gutiérrez Briceño, who highlighted the project as evidence of growing confidence from the business sector.

The new branch will create six direct jobs – four operational positions and two managerial roles – according to zone manager Ricardo Vega. Officials said the investment supports the town’s strategy to attract private capital, boost commercial activity and provide employment opportunities for local families.

Local officials and company representatives, including store manager Claudia Isabel Alamilla Hernández and sub‑manager Jessica Isabel Leal García, attended the ribbon‑cutting, underscoring the collaborative effort between municipal authorities and the retailer to foster economic growth in Puerto Morelos.
