Puerto Morelos implements new digital and security initiatives

The municipal administration of Puerto Morelos, led by Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, has launched several initiatives aimed at modernization and public safety.

In a move to improve digital infrastructure, a free high-speed Wi-Fi network has been activated at Parque Fundadores. Implemented in coordination with GigNet México, the service is part of the 2024-2027 Municipal Development Plan. The network currently supports over 1,200 daily connections from residents, workers, and tourists.

Simultaneously, the municipality has begun professionalizing its local police force through the Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) Model workshop. Twenty members of the Secretariat of Citizen Security are participating in the training, which focuses on identifying crime patterns and social factors to develop more effective prevention strategies. This program is being conducted in coordination with the State Government and the Security and Peace Construction Table.
