Puerto Natales business group seeks flight certainty for aerodrome works
The Bloque Productivo de Última Esperanza has expressed support for the bidding process regarding major runway conservation at the Teniente Julio Gallardo Aerodrome in Puerto Natales, but is calling for urgent clarity on mitigation measures. The construction is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027, coinciding with a peak tourism season.
Local business representatives are requesting an official direct flight schedule for the period between October 2026 and April 2027, specifically for the months of January, February, and March. They have also called for a national and international communication campaign to inform travelers about how air connectivity will function during the works.
Spokesperson Adriana Aguilar noted that companies are already receiving inquiries from travelers who are uncertain due to a lack of official information. Additionally, representatives have requested specific flight programming details from airlines such as LATAM and SKY to assist with business planning and local labor contracting.
