Puerto Plata expands tourism offerings in Dominican Republic
Tourism initiatives are expanding in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, through new entertainment proposals and adventure services. Former Tourism Vice Minister Julio Almonte has proposed scheduling at least one monthly concert at the Puerto Plata amphitheater during the high season, which begins November 1. Almonte suggested that coordinating these events with local agencies, tour operators, and hotels could boost the local night economy and create integrated tourism packages.
Additionally, Sunland Buggy has launched in Maimón, offering guided buggy excursions and outdoor experiences. Founded by Ángel Hurtado and Joel Silverio, the venture aims to diversify the region's tourism portfolio while generating local employment in areas such as guiding, administration, and mechanics. The new service includes complementary amenities like a cafeteria and a souvenir shop.
