Puerto Plata proposes tourism integration with Bávaro–Punta Cana

Leonardo Medrano, the Director of Tourism for the Puerto Plata Municipality, has proposed a dialogue with the Mayor of Bávaro–Punta Cana, Manolito Ramírez, to strengthen tourism integration in the Dominican Republic.

Supported by Puerto Plata Mayor Roque García, the initiative aims to foster cooperation between the two major tourism hubs. Medrano noted that while the destinations have different strengths—Puerto Plata offering history, culture, and cruise tourism, and Bávaro–Punta Cana specializing in sun and beach infrastructure—they are complementary.

The proposed collaboration includes joint destination promotion, improved connectivity, multi-destination tourism strategies, and the exchange of experiences to encourage international visitors to stay longer by exploring multiple regions of the country.
