Puerto Rico celebrates cultural events in Caguas and Mayagüez

The Autonomous Municipality of Caguas has announced the celebration of the Day of the Puerto Rican Cuatro on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Plaza Santiago R. Palmer. This early commemoration aims to increase participation from students, musicians, and artisans before the busy November cultural season. The event honors musicians Ricky Torres and luthier Agustín Acevedo, and will feature a major Cuatro competition across three age categories.

In Mayagüez, the 17th edition of the Puerto Rico Film Festival has concluded. The festival recognized several standout productions, including “Summer of Three” by Carlitos Ruiz Ruiz, which won Best National Feature and the Audience Award, and “Sana y Salva” by Arí Manuel Cruz, which received the Jury Prize. Special career honors were awarded to actress Marian Pabón and filmmaker Diego de la Texera.
