Puerto Rico Tourism Company disputes Miss Universe claims

The Puerto Rico Tourism Company (CTPR) has issued a formal request for Thai businessman Nawat Itsaragrisil to cease making what it describes as “false, inaccurate, or materially misleading assertions” regarding the Miss Universe 2026 pageant. The dispute concerns the contracting processes, management, and disbursement of public funds intended for the event in Puerto Rico.

CTPR Executive Director Willianette Robles stated that while the agency is aware of controversies between Itsaragrisil and entities linked to the Miss Universe Organization, the CTPR is not a party to these disputes. Robles emphasized that the agency will not allow third-party conflicts to be used to “unfoundedly question the integrity of our processes or the responsible management of public funds.” The CTPR maintained that it possesses corporate documentation to support all actions and authorizations related to the agreements.

Ronald Day, Chief Executive Officer of the Miss Universe Organization (MUO), has also rejected Itsaragrisil’s claims, stating that the businessman holds no relationship or authority over the organization. The CTPR reiterated its focus on using the international event to promote Puerto Rico’s culture and tourism despite these private interest disputes.
