Puerto Vallarta approves school land regularization and 2027 tax freeze
The Puerto Vallarta City Council has approved two significant measures regarding municipal administration and fiscal policy.
First, the council approved the update and regularization of comodato (loan-for-use) contracts for 36 educational facilities. This legal regularization grants the Jalisco Secretary of Education the use of these municipal plots for 30 years. The move is intended to provide legal certainty, allowing schools to access state-level infrastructure improvement programs, such as ‘Jalisco con Estrella’.
Second, Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González announced the approval of the 2027 Revenue Law, which includes a freeze on all taxes and fees. The administration committed to zero increases in property taxes (Predial), licenses, and other municipal duties, stating that the government must optimize existing resources before requesting additional economic contributions from citizens and businesses.
