Puerto Vallarta audit reveals 75 million pesos in unaccounted funds
An audit by the Auditoría Superior del Estado de Jalisco (ASEJ) has revealed a discrepancy of over 75 million pesos in the 2024 public accounts of the Puerto Vallarta City Council.
A specific observation of 5.5 million pesos has been directed at the Social Communication department, which was managed by Alfonso Pérez Miramontes. The audit covers the period from January to September 2024, spanning the final months of Luis Michel Rodríguez’s administration and the interim term of Francisco José ‘Pepe’ Martínez Gil.
While the ASEJ noted that the advertising and media services—including digital banners, video production, and print advertisements—were actually performed, the investigation found a lack of supporting documentation and evidence for the payments. The disappearance of files and evidentiary information has implicated more than a dozen media outlets, agencies, and advertising providers in the region.
