Puerto Vallarta council members boycott revenue law session

In Puerto Vallarta, at least 12 of the 16 city council members have officially notified the General Secretariat that they will not attend an extraordinary session called by Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González for August 29.

The council members, representing the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico and Movimiento Ciudadano, argue that the 2027 Revenue Law must be deliberated during an ordinary session rather than an extraordinary one. They further claim that the administration failed to provide the necessary technical annexes and documentation in a timely manner to allow for a proper study of the proposed increases in property taxes, water rates, and other fees.

This boycott prevents the approval of the municipal revenue proposal and the updated tables for land and construction values. The standoff occurs just days before the legal deadline to submit the fiscal package to the Jalisco State Congress.
